The Studio started in 2018 in the city of Lahore, Pakistan by Saleh Ahmed, Waleed Ahmed and Rayan Ahmed.

It started with Waleed exploring wood working techniques and coming across furniture pieces made using unconventional techniques of bending wood. Fascinated by the aesthetic that was achievable using these technqiues, the three brothers spent the next 7 to 8 months figuring out and learning the craft by making their first collection of four pieces. They reached out to local craftsmen for guidance on woodworking since they themselves held no experience in craft or design at all.

The Studio’s work was well received within Pakistan and the world over from the inception, enabling the three to create an elaborate portfolio in furniture, sculptural lighting and sculptural forms. The global exposure has expanded the Studio’s reach to art galleries in Shanghai to professionals in New York.

Free form crafting techniques are used at the Studio to create each piece, making each commission unique. Custom and site specific works are a perpetual practice at Raka Studio which allows them to create one of a kind pieces, furthering their exploration of wood bending techniques.
